Case Studies

Real cases: how we have supported foreign companies in Italy

The following cases are representative of the challenges that foreign companies — particularly those of Chinese origin — face when entering the Italian market. Identifying details have been modified to protect client confidentiality.

Case A — Automotive components manufacturer

A Chinese manufacturer of automotive suspension components sought to establish a commercial partnership with an Italian OEM. The product was already distributed in Asia but lacked CE marking and technical documentation compliant with the European Machinery Directive.

The challenge

The company had very limited time for qualification: the Italian customer required CE compliance within six months of the start of negotiations. The existing technical documentation was in Chinese and did not follow the format required by applicable harmonised European standards.

The solution

Rxconsult coordinated the technical analysis with Ing. Ussei, who reviewed the existing documentation, identified gaps against the applicable EN standards, and drafted the technical file in Italian and English. In parallel, the firm assisted the client in incorporating an Italian SRL to manage local commercial operations.

The outcome

CE marking was obtained within the required deadline. The SRL was incorporated in six weeks. The client began regular supply to the Italian OEM in the following quarter.

Case B — Agricultural machinery distribution group

A Chinese distributor of agricultural machinery wished to open a warehouse and commercial office in Italy to serve the European market. Part of the product catalogue consisted of machinery manufactured before 1996, requiring regulatory adaptation.

The challenge

The pre-1996 machinery lacked compliant manuals, risk assessments, and maintenance plans. Italian regulations require the equipment holder to remedy these gaps before putting the machines into service on Italian territory.

The solution

Ing. Ussei conducted the technical analysis, defined the intervention plan, and supervised the companies responsible for physical adaptations. Rxconsult managed the opening of the Italian office, including lease agreements, Chamber of Commerce filings, and onboarding of the first locally hired employees.

The outcome

The machines were brought into compliance and put into service in accordance with Italian regulations. The Italian office is now operational and serves customers in seven European countries.
